Lions Club International

Lions Clubs International (LCI) is an international non-political service organization established originally in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, by Melvin Jones.[1] It is now headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois. As of January 2020, it had over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members (including the youth wing Leo) in more than 200 countries around the world. With the motto ‘’We Serve’’ Lions Club International has been spreading their wing around the globe and serving millions of people every day.

Lions Club of Kathmandu Royal Friends

Lions Club of Kathmandu ‘Royal Friends’ was established in 2021 in the initiation of young leaders of our Kathmandu. With the inspiration from the slogan ‘’WE SERVE’’, we are dedicated to create and foster the spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs. We are determined to serve our fellow Nepalese through community involvement and also international co-operation. Club was chartered on June 1, 2021.

History

In 1971, Lionism began in Nepal after the first Lions Club was chartered in the name of Lions Club of Biratnagar under the leadership of former Prime Minister Matrika Prasad Koirala. After a year, Lion P.C Jain initiated Lions Club of Kathmandu in the year 1972 with 50 charter members.

After almost 50 years of establishment of Lionism, MJF Lion Anil Kumar Baral and Lion Diprash Shakya, from Lions Club of Kathmandu United Friends, decided to spread Lionism Further, and established Lions Club of Kathmandu Royal Friends on June 1st, 2021.
We are working diligently to continue the spirit of service promoted by Lions Club International.
